As a School we think

we

have

a

responsability.

The responsability to do our best to make it right for our planet.

We have learn, read, talked a lot about climate change. Today it’s time for action. Time for every business, government and individual to dedicate themselves to heading off the environmental and social crisis at hand.

Here’s what we do at Les Kidz.

Our Curriculum

How things are connected? What are the consequences? Is there a link between this and that? Can we think in a different way? What do we need, as human, to feel… Safe, Happy? Is it cool to feel different? To be different?… We study the cycle of water. How pollinization works. What about spider? Should we be scared? Trees? We can climb on them but what else about them? How they communicate? How do we breath?… So many basic notions that make life works. Our secret to make them understand? We consider children as smart young people.

Diapers & Trash

We exclusively use compostable diapers, wipes and trash bag. We chose to work with the local company ReDyper SF.

Did you know that it takes 500 years for traditional diapers to break down? ReDyper SF does it in 14 days. Good to know: It takes years to break down Compostable diapers is in garbage without being composted.

Sadly diapers and wipes are not local made but the service is. ReDyper SF is in Santa Clara, California.

Note that we support families who use washable diapers.

Food & Cooking

Children prepare the lunch with us… They touch, try, taste, share and learn patience. It’s organic, local and raw, we just have to make a dish! No tricks here. No preservative. No colorant and just a very small amount of sugar and salt.

We fuel San Francisco farmer market and cooperative like Rainbow Grocery.

We buy in bulk as much as we can to avoid trash.

Oh wait! We grow sprouts and microgreens. And we learn to store the season by preserving food.

Growing food helps build a connection with our ecosystem: its connects us with our soil, plants, other animals, insects, water. It allows us to eat more locally.

Our tech Footprint

The internet’s carbon footprint is on the rise, accounting for approximately 2-4% of global emissions — equal to or greater than the entire aviation industry. Websites rely on a very physical infrastructure like servers, data centers and telecom networks that require electricity for both operation and production.

Like on the other field, we took care of our website carbon energy. We are proud to be rated C on the scale.

Material use at school

All our school material is compostable, reusable, recycled.

California Green Innovator

Did you know we were the 10th Innovator business certified in the entire State of California! This is a day to day work and the much we learn, the much we improve ourself.
