Art Project: Winter Ornaments & Autumn Colors

This week, we introduced art workshops that allowed the children to explore different techniques while developing their fine motor skills and creativity.

Important note: All non-natural material used for the artwork come from SCRAP. We do not purchase any new materials for our projects. As a school, we feel that consuming new materials coming from the other side of the world has lost its meaning. You are very welcome to participate and help us find idea of new art projects that respect the living (human and non-human).

Ornaments Workshop – Cork Stamp Technique
First, the children used corks dipped in paint to create the round shapes of their ornaments.

This activity helped them work on:

• Precision in movement,
• Hand–eye coordination,
• Shape recognition.

After about twenty minutes of practice, we continued later in the morning to finalize the ornaments: adding the hanging hooks, drawing small details, and choosing the colors.
The children were very focused and proud of their creations.

“I like to work with simple materials such as wine corks and leaves in many colors.
These activities help young children stay curious, explore freely, and feel confident. By playing with colors and making their own little creations, they discover what they can do and enjoy expressing themselves.”– Teacher Marc.

“Autumn Bubbles” Workshop – Bubble Painting

The children used a mixture of paint, water, and a bit of gentle soap to create colorful bubbles.
Using straws, the children blew into the mixture to make large bubbles, then carefully pressed paper onto the surface to capture the round, multicolored patterns.

This sensory activity allowed them to:

• Discover a new artistic technique,
• Practice controlled breathing,
• Explore the colors of autumn (red, orange, green, brown).

The result is soft, poetic, and the children loved watching how the bubbles transformed on the paper.
